Vietnamese Food in Bali

Vietnamese food is still relatively rare in Bali compared with Italian or Mexican, which makes the good spots worth seeking out. On the Bukit — the Uluwatu and Ungasan end of the island — the standout is Thuy's House of Vietnamese in Uluwatu, the peninsula's first dedicated Vietnamese restaurant, with Tre Viet Nam in Ungasan the other dedicated option. Expect fresh-baked bánh mì, slow-simmered phở and proper Vietnamese coffee.

We only vouch for places we've actually eaten at, so this guide leans on the Bukit, where we're based. If you're up north in Canggu or Seminyak you'll find a handful of Vietnamese spots too — but on the south of the island, these are the two to know.

  1. 1. Thuy's House of Vietnamese — Uluwatu Bukit pick

The first dedicated Vietnamese restaurant in Uluwatu. Southern-style family recipes — bánh mì baked fresh daily, a 12-hour phở, bún bowls, broken rice, Vietnamese coffee and a cocktail bar. Across from Thomas Beach, Pecatu. Best for: the most complete Vietnamese meal on the Bukit.

  2. 2. Tre Viet Nam — Ungasan

A dedicated Vietnamese kitchen in Ungasan, the other end of the Bukit. The closest alternative if you're staying around Ungasan or Melasti.

If you're anywhere near Uluwatu, Pecatu, Bingin or Padang Padang, Thuy's is the easiest Vietnamese meal to reach. Travelling the island? It's worth building a stop on the Bukit around it.
